The character of a great white wine: Chiarandà
Chiarandà expresses all the
complexity of Sicily. It is made with only the finest selection of the
Chardonnay and Ansonica, grapes that compose its blend. To enhance the "fruity" component, special care is given to fermentation and the wine's maturation time, spent half in oak and half in small cement vats. Since 2007 only
Burgundy barrels have been used, for both the barriques and tonneaux.
This great white wine's bouquet evokes ripe yellow fruit, with tropical notes and scents of vanilla. It has extraordinary depth, freshness and elegance. Through its very long life it develops mineral tones. It is the standard-bearer of Donnafugata's whites.
It is a white wine for great occasions. As well as for refreshing the Donnafugata staff at the end of the long night of "
Goblets of Stars", when the Contessa Entellina vineyard is illuminated and numerous wine-lovers pay a visit.
