Wine and territory: history of the name Kabir Kabir from the Arab "The Great" is the name Donnafugata gave to its Moscato di Pantelleria for the breadth and nobility of its fragrances. Its fresh and flowery notes, its balanced sweetness have the graceful charm of Arab architecture in Sicily. Sculpted arches, mosaics, inlays and floral motifs that segue one another, gardens and fountains that refresh and delight.

Made from Zibibbo (Muscat of Alexandria) grapes, Kabir is the fruit of a variety the Arabs brought to Pantelleria; also Arab are the names of some parts of the island in which Donnafugata has its vineyards: Khamma, Mueggen, Bukkuram, Sibà, Karace, Kania.

The character of Kabir, Moscato di Pantelleria DOP Kabir is an elegant naturally sweet white wine, splendid in bouquet, with outstanding citrusy notes and delicate floral nuances. Tasting Kabir brings to mind the intense pleasure one has sampling Zibibbo (Moscato d'Alessandria) grapes, extraordinarily aromatic and also delicious to eat!

On Pantelleria the grapes ripen in a climate that is generally arid and windy, but with big differences depending on exposure and altitude. From the highest vineyards come the grapes with greater aromatic freshness, in part destined for Kabir to balance its natural sweetness. Benefiting the pleasure found in every sip.

It is versatile in pairings ...limited only by the imagination! As an aperitif served with olives, smoked fish and goat cheeses.
At the end of a meal with fruit sherbets, fruit tarts and pastries with citrus zests.

The story behind the Kabir label The current label speaks with the island's voice. Pantelleria: a pinpoint in the Mediterranean, an island of lava and vineyards, of wine, sun and dammusi, the typical rural buildings where Pantelleria farmers labor and repose. In the center of the illustration is the Khamma winery where freshly-picked bunches of Zibibbo are transformed into Kabir Kabir Moscato di Pantelleria.

The label for the first vintages was a watercolor with an inland landscape. The colors of the illustration were as fresh as delicate as the scents of this naturally sweet wine.

The new label changes angle and views the island from the sea. More powerful than the earlier label and created from a fusion of several sketches, it expresses the freshness and aromatic richness that Zibibbo gives seductive Kabir. An extraordinary label, able to evoke the heroic spirit of viticulture on an island buffeted by waves and wind.
