In Palermo Cronache di Gusto is celebrating Angelo Gaja's 50 years of winemaking. Together with a select group of vintners - including José Rallo of Donnafugata - the king of Barbaresco will discuss "Wine, past and future" and then offer his own "tale of wine". The event will conclude with a great tasting of Gaja's wines along with a selection of the premium Sicilian. Donnafugata will present its 2008 Chiarandà and 2008 Ben Ryé.

On Saturday December 18th at 3.30 pm takes place in Catania the important regional presentation of Sicily by the new wine guide of Slow Food: Slow Wine 2011. Among the presenters will be Roberto Burdese, president of Slow Food Italy, the editor of the guide, Giancarlo Gariglio, and the responsible of the region Sicily, Francesco Abate. At 5 pm in the same place is held an important tasting of the wines which have achieved the appreciation of Grande Vino, Vino Quotidiano and Vino Slow as well as of those that belong to the cellars, which have achieved the recognition Chiocciola, Bottiglia and Moneta.

An encounter dedicated to the world's most famous Sicilian red grape: Nero D'Avola. A rapid increase in quality characterized the winemaking processes of the past decade, which have presented the finest versions of this varietal attracting hereby many markets. It is time to analyze the relation between Nero D'Avola and its single growing areas. A great tasting stand presenting many different Sicilian producers will allow the visitor to appreciate the different expressions of this grape according to its provenance.
At 5 pm will be held a workshop "Nero D'Avola and its territories" that includes the tasting of 6-8 wines: a precise analysis of the four areas, which until today have been identified as the true "terroirs" for Nero D'Avola: the Marsala area, the Syracuse area (including Noto), Menfi and Sclafani Bagni. It will be a blind tasting and the producers remain anonymous.

This year, as well, we would like to focus on the relation between wine and culture through a female experience. On Friday, December 3rd at 6 pm - at the Palazzo Panitteri in Sambuca di Sicilia - we will be proud to give our award "Donne&Vino" to Isabella Bossi Fedrigotti. Fedrigotti is both journalist and writer, as well as producer and spokeswoman in the family's winery that has been producing over many generations in Trentino. Topic of the event will be "The evolution of communication in the wine business". Among the speakers there will be also Alessandro Regoli, producer of the first web tv dedicated exclusively to wine. After the workshop Alma Torretta, Sicilian wine & food writer, will hand out the award. The event will be concluded by a wine and food tasting sponsored by Terre Sicane. Donnafugata will have in tasting Kabir 2009 - Moscato di Pantelleria Dop.
