Donnafugata Music & Wine. José Rallo as new tour kicks off in Palermo.

An all-new concert for “Donnafugata Music & Wine,” the ensemble created around wine woman José Rallo and her project for communicating wine through music. With a double gig at the Blue Brass in Palermo Monday and Tuesday February 26 and 27 from 9:30 p.m. on, the music will be great jazz and Brazilian in a repertory completely different from the one recorded for their first CD, “Donnafugata Music & Wine Live.” Issued in 2004, the CD sold more than 12,000 copies in Italy.

Donnafugata Music & Wine. José Rallo as new tour kicks off in Palermo.

In the wake of this success, international as well—the group played in New York at the Blue Note, in Moscow and in Shanghai—they decided to cut a new live CD and the two Palermo dates will be the ideal occasion and José Rallo, vocal soloist, and her husband, Vincenzo Favara (expert percussionist in his leisure time) waited a long time to create this second collection of pieces. They were right to wait.

On stage with them, in addition to the other stable components of the band, Diego Spitaleri, Giueppe Milici and Vincenzo Palermo, will be two great names in American jazz, drummer Eliot Zigmund and double-bass player Bill Moring. And, just for this first leg of the 2007 tour, there will be a performance by The Brass Group Orchestra, with Vito Giordano on trumpet, Orazio Maugeri on sax and Salvatore Pizzurro on trombone.

In brief, exciting evenings for lovers of jazz and Brazilian music who, at the Blue Brass (located at Spasimo Church in Palermo), could also enjoy the musical tasting of a great Donnafugata wine featuring the premium red from this famous winery: Tancredi (Nero d’Avola and Cabernet Sauvignon) accompanied by the ballad An Older Man Is Like an Elegant Wine.

The concert and tasting ticket costs 10 euros. Advance sales at ELLEPI, Palermo.
