Twenty years of emotions with Donnafugata

Sunday 25 May, from 10 to 18, a special edition of Cantine Aperte in Marsala, in which wine intertwines with music and la Chanson de Roland

The Cantine Aperte proposed by Donnafugata in Sicily will be a very special one. In the historic Marsala Cellars, the public of wine lovers will live a playful and fascinating experience, a multi-sensory journey dedicated to the association between wine and music. A theme dear to Donnafugata, on which it has developed a series of original initiatives, and that the Wine Tourism Movement has chosen to characterize this XXII edition with the contest #suonodabere.

It starts with a guided tour of the winery and the splendid underground Barrel Cellar, with a stop at the green info point: a corner dedicated to green initiatives and Donnafugata’s ten-year path to sustainability, and that communicates, in a simple and effective way, the company’s commitment to reducing its environmental impact.

The journey then concludes in Sala delle Botti, where the visitors can take part in an unusual blind tasting of wine and music: a test in which you have to recognize the music genre you are listening to and the wine in the pairing. A game of emotions centered on notes – notes to taste and to listen to – in search of the song and favorite label, and the 3 adjectives that best describe the sensations of this multi-sensory experience. Which romantic Donnafugata wine will match with the Chopin Nocturne n°8? Which will be the wine brought as a dowry to the pure rock of Elton John with Tiny Dancer? And the Jazz of Chet Baker, with the prodigious piece Autumn leaves, will make which glass full of wine dance? Music, however, will accompany visitors throughout the day thanks to the inspiration of the original band “Duo a Volte”, called to gladden guests with their itinerant performance with a repertoire of pure fun.

Also in Sala delle Botti, at the Sensory Laboratory stands visitors can taste all the vintages of the wines just presented, Mille e Una Notte 2008 and Ben Ryé 2010 stand out.

But the real protagonist of this edition of Cantine Aperte is Angheli 2010, an authentically French wine for blend and soft perfection. The Photographic Set #Donnafugatatime d’autore is dedicated to it: prepared with a theater wing, where visitors can look like characters inspired by the world of chivalry, it recalls la Chanson de Roland, the identity theme, much loved in Sicily, and evoked on the label of Angheli with the famous phrase “ladies, knights, arms and loves”. A fantastic world that the tradition of the Sicilian Puppet Theater has known how to keep alive over time, and that Donnafugata, during this edition of Cantine Aperte, re-proposes with Lessons in Maneuvering Sicilian Puppets by Vito Lombardo and Anna Stampa. The movements that have enchanted generations of old and young will be disclosed to the improvised arte pupara apprentices. And Donnafugata reserves a space for the young with Entertainment for children (ages 4-12) entrusted to La Serenella. The traditional art workshop with corks and design activities will alternate with moments of dramatizing fairy tales and nursery rhymes.

Lastly, the Temporary Shop area, where you can have a quick re-taste of a selection of wines, before purchasing them. A useful service, well received by the consumer, who can choose in the best way possible his/her new supply of Donnafugata wines.
