A taste en primeur of the wines of the 2013 harvest and the celebration of the new vintage of Mille e una Notte, 2008
“It’s San Martino, at Donnafugata each must is wine”: Saturday, November 9, from 19 to 22 the appointment created by the National Wine Tourism Movement returns to the historic cellars in Marsala.
Donnafugata has always loved sharing its secrets with fans and all lovers of quality wine. Also this year, the unmatured wines of the 2013 vintage – only just concluded – will be at the center of a rich program of tastings and pairings.
During the tour of the winery you can taste en primeur a single variety of the 2013 harvest tapped directly from the tank. A moment usually reserved for “specialists”.
For those who love challenges, there are two this year. The first is “Test the winemaker in you: a blind tasting of varietal wines with the chance of guessing them and winning the badge: “Winemaker DOC Donnafugata”. The second: “Create your own blend” is reserved for the winners of the first test who, with the backing of the technical staff, can give life to their own wine, blending some of the single varieties tasted. An award for true connoisseurs is at stake.
This year a special space will be dedicated to Mille e una Notte, the only label that can be tasted. A vertical of 4 vintages, from 1998 to 2008, will aim at exalting the aging and evolving capacity of this noble red of Donnafugata. The presentation of the new vintage of Mille e una Notte, 2008, will be matched with a fascinating tasting where the ample notes of this wine blend with the elegant sensuality of the oriental dances of Sabah Benziadi.
Lastly, to celebrate the new wine, an itinerant musical performance and an autumnal “schiticchio” with traditional Sicilian dishes: pork cold cuts, cheeses, San Martino biscuits, live preparation of chestnuts, ricotta, marzipan fruit and mufoletti with sausage. A convivial and fun event.
The guest of the evening, with a dedicated space, will be AIRC (Associazione Italiana Ricerca sul Cancro) to which Donnafugata will assign 1€ for every entrance ticket.*
