{"id":31582,"date":"2017-04-19T07:42:31","date_gmt":"2017-04-19T07:42:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.donnafugata.it\/blog\/2017\/04\/19\/donnafugata-sursur-is-the-best-grillo-according-to-the-frankfurter-allgemeine-zeitung\/"},"modified":"2017-04-19T07:42:31","modified_gmt":"2017-04-19T07:42:31","slug":"donnafugata-sursur-is-the-best-grillo-according-to-the-frankfurter-allgemeine-zeitung","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.donnafugata.it\/en\/blog\/donnafugata-sursur-is-the-best-grillo-according-to-the-frankfurter-allgemeine-zeitung\/","title":{"rendered":"Donnafugata SurSur is the best Grillo\u00a0according to the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The German newspaper crowns the Sicilian winery for its interpretation of an autochthonous grape variety that is gaining increasing international acclaim.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Donnafugata SurSur is the best Sicilian wine produced from Grillo grapes<\/strong>: this is the response of the \u201cWine Championship Sicily\u201d organized by the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.faz.net\/\">Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung<\/a> that is the most widespread generalist newspaper in Germany.<\/p>\n<p>The result was published yesterday in the very popular Sunday edition of the FAZ and it is the fruit of the tastings carried out by a commission headed by journalists <strong>Fabian and Cornelius Lange<\/strong>, among the most respected international critics.<\/p>\n<p>SurSur, the <strong>2015 vintage <\/strong>of which was awarded, is a <strong>Grillo Sicilia DOC<\/strong> that Donnafugata produces on the hills of western Sicily; an extremely <strong>fresh and fruity <\/strong>wine characterized by an intriguing bouquet with notes of white-fleshed fruit combined with pleasant scents of meadow flowers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe fact that the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung has dedicated a competition to Sicilian wines \u2013 says <strong>Antonio Rallo<\/strong>, winemaker of the family winery \u2013 demonstrates that the island occupies a prominent position in one of the major markets for Italian wine. The German people&#8217;s interest in wine produced from Grillo grapes also responds to a broader trend relating to the autochthonous grape varieties; Grillo is also increasingly appreciated overseas, in the United States, where Consorzio Sicilia DOC is committed to making known this variety.
