A journey to the discovery of the island Garden of the Mediterranean, a treasure chest of biodiversity with a landscape designed by the toil of farmers, among terraces and cultivation of the alberello vine. This is the special occasion offered by the Pantelleria DOC Festival<\/strong> that, with the harvest in full swing on the island, from 31 August to 9 September<\/strong> proposes a program of events, tastings and tours dedicated to wine, the agriculture of Pantelleria, archeology and to the discovery of the volcanic nature of the island.<\/p>\n

The Pantelleria DOC Festival<\/strong> was wished for by Consorzio Vini di Pantelleria DOC, <\/strong>in collaboration with Pantelleria Island<\/strong>, that brings together local accommodation facilities.<\/p>\n

The program includes daily guided tours to the wineries of the Consorzio: in addition to Donnafugata<\/strong>, also Pellegrino, Murana, Vinisola, Basile, De Bartoli, Coste di Ghirlanda<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Every day, for the more sporty, it will be possible to discover the island with trekking and bike tours<\/strong> as well as kayak and boat trips<\/strong>, and well-being <\/strong>trails thanks to the numerous thermal phenomena originating from the volcanic nature of Pantelleria: the warm waters at Cala Gad\u00ecr, the sulfurous mud at Venus Lake, the natural sauna at Benikul\u00e0 cave.<\/p>\n

The appointments dedicated to the culture of the territory<\/strong> scheduled at the Castle<\/strong> are also extremely varied: there will be seminars on products of excellence of the island such as wines or precious lentils, screenings and book presentations. On 5 September the Castle will host the \u201cNotte bianca della Poesia\u201d (White Night of Poetry) curated by Comitato Preziosa Pantelleria; on 8 September the \u201cParco che vogliamo\u201d (Park we want) and the development prospects of the territory that the National Park institution can offer will be discussed. The Castle will also be the site for the \u201cPantesco Market\u201d<\/strong> that will allow visitors to discover the wines and many other specialties produced on the island: from preserves to oil, from garden produce to capers and cheeses.<\/p>\n

Other occasions to discover the island’s wines, places and producers will be the aperitivi at sunset<\/strong>, the l<\/strong>aboratory dinners<\/strong> at the island’s best restaurants, and the dopocena (after dinner) orga<\/strong>nized at the wineries<\/strong> where the sweetness of Passito will meet the fragrances of chocolate or cigars and, in other cases, live music.<\/p>\n
