In the settings of the Gattopardo
In the heart of western Sicily - among the hills of Contessa Entellina, between 200 and 500 m a.s.l. - lie the vineyards Donnafugata comes from. The climate is Mediterranean, with rain concentrated during the autumn and winter months, dry and breezy summers, with a great range of air temperature variations between day and night. The soils are predominantly medium-clayey, but vary according to the peculiarities of the individual districts.

Sustainable management of agricultural activities
For over 30 years we have been pursuing environmental sustainability with a system of good practices: we do not use herbicides and chemical fertilizers and we minimize the use of pesticides. At the Contessa Entellina estate, we installed two photovoltaic systems in 2002 and 2008, in order to produce clean energy and reduce our emissions.

Since 2009, we have been committed to the protection and enhancement of Sicilian wine biodiversity thanks to an experimental vineyard with 19 native varieties including some heritage varieties, which have almost completely disappeared.
Donnafugata brut
An elegant woman, her face illuminated by a slight smile: how can we not think of Leonardo da Vinci's Mona Lisa or Lady with an Ermine? A perfect balance of the elements, of art, culture, nature. Compared to the very elegant original sketch, only a few touches of gold foil have been added in the perlage, like wedges of light that herald all the fine vitality of the contents.
