Every summer, among the vineyards of Contessa Entellina, Calici di Stelle transforms the Donnafugata winery into a place where wine meets art, music and imagination. More than a tasting beneath the stars, it is an immersive experience that over the years has brought together concerts, performances, light installations, dance, theatre and storytelling, each offering a new perspective on the Sicilian landscape.
The story began in 1998 at the Contessa Entellina winery, where Donnafugata first brought Calici di Stelle into the vineyards, transforming it into an experience that combines wine, culture and conviviality. To this day, Contessa Entellina hosts the main event on 10 August. Over time, the programme has expanded to include Donnafugata’s other wineries in Vittoria, Etna, Pantelleria and Marsala, with dedicated events taking place between late July and August.
Edition after edition, Calici di Stelle has become one of Donnafugata’s most distinctive events: a celebration of togetherness and creativity, where the vineyards provide a natural stage and wine becomes a form of cultural expression. From the evocative world of the Opera dei Pupi to contemporary dance performances among the vines, and grand balls inspired by the aristocratic Sicily of The Leopard, each event is conceived as a story to be experienced rather than simply observed.
Music flows through every space, setting the rhythm of the evening alongside the wines and flavours of the local area. It is the same vision that inspires Donnafugata Music & Wine: wine as a multisensory experience, capable of engaging with other art forms and creating meaningful connections between people, places and emotions. Through this blend of nature and spectacle, Donnafugata continues to reinterpret Calici di Stelle as an event in constant evolution, where Sicily shines through its light, its energy and its unique character.
