Where Memory Meets the Future: Donnafugata at Vinitaly 2026

At Vinitaly, Donnafugata presents “A Family Lunch”, a short film celebrating the dialogue between generations, memory and the future. With its wines as ambassadors of excellence, Donnafugata brings to Verona the many expressions of Sicily as a wine continent, while also taking center stage in the major tastings of the official program.

At Vinitaly 2026, Donnafugata presents a presence that brings together memory and momentum, wine and storytelling. In an edition marked by international tensions, the Sicilian winery chooses to respond with what has always been its strength: a long-term vision, quality as its compass, and the ability to interpret the spirit of its time. Donnafugata presents “A Family Lunch”, a short film that reveals the soul of the company through an intergenerational dialogue, weaving together the voices of its protagonists: Gabriella Anca, who founded the company with her husband Giacomo Rallo; José and Antonio Rallo; and Gabriella Favara, representing the sixth generation of the family. “A Family Lunch is the story of who we are,” says José Rallo of Donnafugata. “Ten years after Giacomo’s passing, we wanted we wanted to reflect on the meaning of a project that began as a dream and became a reality. Around the table, we shared wine, memory, art, and the future through the joy of being together.” “A Family Lunch” is also an illustration by artist Stefano Vitale, displayed on a wall of the stand, a symbolic space for encounter and conviviality, where visitors can step into the image, become part of the table, take a selfie, and share it on social media, transforming the experience into a collective portrait. The Verona showcase will also be an opportunity to present the winery’s small-batch, high-quality wines from its estates, offering a portrait of Sicily’s many facets: from the hillside wines of Contessa Entellina to those born of heroic viticulture on Pantelleria; from the “unconventional reds” of Vittoria to the mountain wines of Etna. “We are living in a time that calls for adaptability and strategic vision,” says Antonio Rallo, winemaker of the family winery. “For this reason, we continue to invest in the quality of our wines and in strengthening our presence in both domestic and international markets. Alongside key markets for Italian wine — such as the United States, Germany, and Switzerland — we believe that greater international diversification is essential to seize new opportunities.” Vinitaly will also feature a calendar of events in which Donnafugata will play a leading role. Ben Ryé 2016 will be among the wines selected by Wine Spectator for OperaWine, the flagship event celebrating Italian excellence worldwide, further confirming the iconic status of Passito di Pantelleria. Mille e una Notte 2012 will be presented by Antonio Rallo in the masterclass “10 Years After Tachis – The Wines That Changed Italy”, highlighting a legacy that continues to speak to the present and shape the future of Italian wine. Chiarandà 2006 will be presented by José Rallo in the tasting “Excellence of Italy: A Journey Through the Great Vintages of Historic Wineries”, celebrating the longevity of Italy’s finest wines. Finally, Ben Ryé 2023 will accompany Gabriella Favara at the Wine Spectator event dedicated to the new generation of Italian wine, underscoring the company’s ability to build bridges between family tradition, contemporary language, and a global outlook. Vinitaly will also provide the opportunity to present the new vintage of Bollicina Gold, the wine that marked the culmination of the partnership with Dolce&Gabbana. The sparkling wine will take center stage in a customized stand design that highlights the dialogue between wine and creativity, further strengthening Donnafugata’s international positioning. With the strength of a brand like Sicily — powerful and evocative — Donnafugata continues to embody its uniqueness and elegance around the world, offering a vision of wine that is at once rooted in memory and open to the future.
