SUSTAINABILITY

International Day of the Mediterranean Sea: every action counts

On 8 July, we celebrate the International Day of the Mediterranean Sea, a shared heritage of biodiversity, cultures and landscapes that connects all the territories along its shores.

Caring for it also means rethinking everyday actions and production choices. It is this vision that inspires Donnafugata’s commitment to sustainability through practical, tangible actions.

One example is the introduction of the Nomacorc Ocean closure, used for some Donnafugata wines and made from recycled plastic collected in coastal areas most at risk of marine pollution. A project that transforms potential waste into a new resource, helping to protect marine ecosystems.

The same approach guides other company choices aimed at creating more sustainable packaging, from the lightweight “Cento per Cento Sicilia” (100% Sicilian) bottles, produced on the island primarily from recycled glass, to the use of FSC-certified cartons and solutions designed to reduce the environmental impact of transport.

Because sustainability is not the result of one single action, but of many conscious choices.

Even those that begin with a closure.
