The first stage of the learning journey for the prestigious qualification of wine experts and communicators, among the most respected in the world.
The 6th edition of the courses for aspiring Masters of Wine, organized by the homonymous London Institute in collaboration with Grandi Marchi, will take place at Donnafugata, 3-5 March.
The course will be held in English by the Masters of Wine Jane Hunt, Peter McCombie and Susan Hulme, and is reserved for professionals who have a minimum of 3 years experience in the wine industry or who hold a wine qualification.
The learning objective is to develop tasting techniques and basic analytical skills for the Master of Wine qualification and also to address broader issues such as styles and trends in international enology, fortified wines, sustainability in viticulture, wine markets and communication.
At the end of the three-day Masterclass at the historic cellars of Donnafugata in Marsala, participants will be able to take an exam that is valid for direct admission to the Institute of Masters of Wine study program.
In the world there are only 352 MWs, of 28 different nationalities; there are still no Italian MWs, but a good number of Italian professionals will be tackling the exam in June and so, who knows, we might be celebrating the first tricolor MWs.
The mission of the Masters of Wine is to promote the excellence and culture of wine in all its aspects and areas at an international level.
“As members of the Istituto Grandi Marchi, that brings together 19 of the most prestigious Italian wineries, we are honored – says José Rallo of Donnafugata – to host the sixth residential Masterclass dedicated to professionals who want to embark on this important and challenging learning journey. Masters of Wine are among the most respected experts and communicators of quality wine, and for the entire sector it is essential to get new – and perhaps also Italian – MWs thanks to whom the culture of wine can grow in every corner of the world.”
