The historic Marsala cellars ready to welcome, Sunday 31 May, wine lovers and enthusiasts for a day dedicated to wines for the summertime, music and also entertainment for the young.
The important national appointment of Cantine Aperte, organized by Movimento Turismo del Vino and now in its 23rd edition is renewed, as every year: Sunday 31 May the wine lovers can experience the event at the historic cellars of Donnafugata in Marsala (Via Lipari 18), and get to know a reality rich in history and innovation, excellence oriented. A rich program, designed to share the emotions of an authentic “taste of Sicily” is waiting for them.
The guided tours of the winery and the splendid underground barrel cellar, where the Donnafugata top wines age in oak, will start at 10.00.
At the end of the tour the guests will find themselves under the great marquee where, from 10.00 to 18.00, there will be the tasting of our full range of wines, from the whites to the sweet wines, passing through the red range, including rare vintages no longer on the market.
This edition of Cantine Aperte will be especially dedicated to summertime wines, the protagonists of two laboratories that will be held in the striking setting of Sala delle Botti: the Grillo SurSur, the Zibibbo Lighea, the rosé Lumera, the Nero d’Avola Sherazade and the last born at Donnafugata, the Catarratto Prio; five labels that celebrate the Sicilian autochthonous varieties and that conquer thanks to their pleasantness and personality.
During the laboratories “Summertime wines” – presented by the oenologist of the company – visitors can draw up a sort of identikit of the wines tasted, indicating the most important and appreciated organoleptic characteristics as well as what they imagine the ideal consumption occasions are: a sandwich on a boat, a poolside brunch, an aperitif at sunset or a dinner by the sea, the Donnafugata wines can make each of these occasions unique and memorable.
Laboratories and tastings will allow everybody to elect their own summertime wine and to reproduce in a playful way the climate of the beautiful season just around the corner, visitors can have their picture taken
– with their favorite label – in the specially prepared photographic set; an ideal situation to produce photos and videos to share on social networks.
The sensory analysis laboratory dedicated to food-wine pairings, another novelty for Cantine Aperte at Donnafugata, is not to be missed; from 12.00 to 14.00, you can take part in a special tasting of four labels paired with specialties of the Mediterranean cuisine: couscous with vegetables, cunzato (seasoned) sandwich, aubergine parmigiana, Modica chocolate.
There will certainly be no lack of music at Donnafugata: an itinerant performance will create a soundtrack ranging from the notes of the waltz to the rhythms of the tango, all in a strictly acoustic version. But Cantine Aperte is also a kid-friendly event: traditionally the young (children aged 4-12) will be included in this festival with entertainment that ranges from artistic workshops on design and with corks to the dramatization of fairy tales and nursery rhymes.
