Sélection Mondiales: Gold for Mille e una Notte

About us

A Gold Medal was won by Mille e una Notte, Donnafugata’s top red. This last prestigious honor came from the Sélection Mondiales des Vins Canada www.smvcanada.ca.

It’s one of the oldest and most important wine competitions in the world, created by the SAQ (Société des alcools du Québec).

The tastings were held from June 1 to 6 in Québec, with 78 judges from 20 countries participating.

At this 17th edition about 2,000 wines were sampled according to the rules set down by the OIV (International Vine and Wine Organization).

The prize-winning Mille e una Notte was the 2006 vintage, made from Nero d’Avola and a small percentage of other grapes from the Donnafugata estate at Contessa Entellina, in the heart of western Sicily
