SUL VULCANO is the new prestigious red wine, the fruit of Donnafugata’s commitment on Etna, a territory of extraordinary charm and high quality wine. On the north side of the great mountain, the Sicilian winery has 15 hectares of vineyards in 5 different districts, between Randazzo and Passopiasciaro.
After the white produced from Carricante grapes – a small production presented at Vinitaly and distributed in the market in a short period of time – now the Nerello Mascalese 2016 harvest, that has given rise to SUL VULCANO Etna DOC Rosso, debuts.
This wine was produced in the Donnafugata winery in Randazzo: it has a light ruby color and offers a particularly refined bouquet with notes of wild berries, flowery scents and delicate spicy nuances; the tannins are clearly present and well integrated, and the minerality, attributed to the volcanic nature of the terrains, is striking.
SUL VULCANO plays an important role in Donnafugata’s production vision oriented to the pursuit of excellence from the most suitable vineyards of Contessa Entellina and Pantelleria, in western Sicily, and since 2016 on Etna and in Vittoria, in the eastern part of the island.
