China is a country that offers great opportunities in that it records one of the world’s highest rates of increase in both consumption and imports. Hence the commitment of Unione Italiana Vini (Italian Wine Union), together with the Ministry of Economic Development, ICE and Enoteca Italiana, in the project “Top Italian Wine & Spirit Course”, whose objective was to train 80 Chinese operators, promoting the knowledge of Italian wine in China through them.
“We have awarded a diploma to the passionate and competent professionals who have studied in depth the traditions, history and geography of Italian enology. To all of them – sommeliers, journalists and influencers – the Italian producers have entrusted, symbolically, a message of territorial quality and culture, promoting them as ambassadors of our best production tradition”. With these words Antonio Rallo, President UIV, spoke in Beijing at the closing ceremony of the project.
During the evening, President Rallo, Ettore Sequi, the Italian Ambassador in Beijing, and Egidio Bianchi, manager of Enoteca Italiana, awarded the diplomas to the 80 participants of the courses.
The ceremony was followed by “I Love Italian Wine”, an event dedicated to over 150 Chinese food&wine bloggers active on WeChat, the most important social media channel in the country; two appointments that also coincided with the “First week of the Italian cuisine in the world”, organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Economic Development and that of Agricultural Policies, and UIV gave them its support.
