Change vintageStraw yellow in color, it offers an intense bouquet with citrus (lemon zest) and ginger notes, floral notes of broom, herbs and elegant hints of toasted hazelnuts and vanilla given by the long aging. In the mouth it is broad and structured, with a pleasant sapid and mineral texture. A long-lasting white, rich in nuances and with great aging potential.

Refinement
The fermentation took place at a temperature of 16-18°C (57-64°F) mainly in freach oak barrels partially in cement or stainless-steel vats, in the same barrels and vats the wine ages for 7 months on its noble lees. Finally, it is aged in the bottle for at least 14 months.
At the table
Perfect with dishes of fish, also smoked ones, and white meat; try with risotto, legumes and medium-aged cheeses. Serve it in large, relatively tall goblets.

In the settings of the Gattopardo
In the heart of western Sicily - among the hills of Contessa Entellina, between 200 and 500 m a.s.l. - lie the vineyards Donnafugata comes from. The climate is Mediterranean, with rain concentrated during the autumn and winter months, dry and breezy summers, with a great range of air temperature variations between day and night. The soils are predominantly medium-clayey, but vary according to the peculiarities of the individual districts.
Sustainability at the service of quality
Sustainable management of agricultural activities
For over 30 years we have been pursuing environmental sustainability with a system of good practices: we do not use herbicides and chemical fertilizers and we minimize the use of pesticides. At the Contessa Entellina estate, we installed two photovoltaic systems in 2002 and 2008, in order to produce clean energy and reduce our emissions.

Biodiversity, an expression of an authentic Sicily
Since 2009, we have been committed to the protection and enhancement of Sicilian wine biodiversity thanks to an experimental vineyard with 19 native varieties including some heritage varieties, which have almost completely disappeared.
Chiarandà
The wine made its debut in 1992 as Chiarandà del Merlo from the names of the two vineyards where the Ansonica and Chardonnay grapes were grown. Ten years later the name has been simplified to Chiarandà and the label has been enriched with a female figure that suggests complexity and refinement.
