Change vintageChiarandà 2011 is golden yellow. The nose is characterized by an ample and varied bouquet: the base is that of yellow pulp fruit, combined with delicate hints of white flowers, completed by notes of spice (vanilla and gray pepper) and aromatic herbs (sage). Long and persistent, the palate perfectly reflects the nose, enlivened by a fresh savory and mineral note. A white with great personality and elegance, with great aging potential.

At Contessa Entellina, where Donnafugata comes from
In the settings of the Gattopardo
In the heart of western Sicily - among the hills of Contessa Entellina, between 200 and 500 m a.s.l. - lie the vineyards Donnafugata comes from. The climate is Mediterranean, with rain concentrated during the autumn and winter months, dry and breezy summers, with a great range of air temperature variations between day and night. The soils are predominantly medium-clayey, but vary according to the peculiarities of the individual districts.
Sustainability at the service of quality
Sustainable management of agricultural activities
For over 30 years we have been pursuing environmental sustainability with a system of good practices: we do not use herbicides and chemical fertilizers and we minimize the use of pesticides. At the Contessa Entellina estate, we installed two photovoltaic systems in 2002 and 2008, in order to produce clean energy and reduce our emissions.
The study of native varieties
Biodiversity, an expression of an authentic Sicily
Since 2009, we have been committed to the protection and enhancement of Sicilian wine biodiversity thanks to an experimental vineyard with 19 native varieties including some heritage varieties, which have almost completely disappeared.
Chiarandà
The wine made its debut in 1992 as Chiarandà del Merlo from the names of the two vineyards where the Ansonica and Chardonnay grapes were grown. Ten years later the name has been simplified to Chiarandà and the label has been enriched with a female figure that suggests complexity and refinement.
