Ageing in tanks for around 7 months and in the bottle for at least 7 months.

At the table

Goes well with grilled vegetables, cold meats and flavoursome fish dishes like soups. Try also with tuna sushi.
Serve in medium-sized wineglasses; it can be uncorked at the time of serving and served lightly chilled at 15-16 °C.

In the lands of the Baroque

Between the Hyblaean mountains and the sea

In southeastern Sicily, in Vittoria, we chose a territory with excellent potential that includes the first and only DOCG in Sicily: Cerasuolo di Vittoria. In this area, the soils are of medium texture, tending to sandy with limestone tuffs. The winery, in the Dirillo River valley is surrounded by honey-colored rocks, which is perfectly integrated into the landscape.

The dialogue between the sea and the Hyblaean mountains

The climate at Vittoria is typically Mediterranean, with a warm temperate and quite windy even in summer. The vineyards benefit from cool “thermal breezes” with a great air temperature variation between the day and the night. The vineyards are arranged along the line of the valley in order to follow the direction of the winds, which blow from the Hyblaean plateau towards the sea by caressing the grapes.

At Vittoria, Donnafugata cultivates two native varieties: Nero d'Avola, king of the Sicilian red grape varieties, and Frappato, one of the oldest Sicilian varieties. The wines of this area are fragrant and floral, they have smooth tannins and are extremely pleasant. Unusual red wines, to be tried chilled, which are surprisingly quite versatile.

Bell'Assai

Bell’Assai is a girl with personality who offers to the sweet Sicilian breeze the fruits of the vineyards and the scents of the countryside. She represents the spirit of those enterprising families with the love for beauty which have always been animating the territory of Vittoria. An artistic label with which Donnafugata wants to celebrate the love for the beautiful.
