On the highest active volcano in Europe

Where volcanic and Mediterranean wines come from

Our vineyards are located on the northern slope of Etna, between 730 m and 750 m a.s.l., an area characterized by little rainfall and cool and breezy summers, which contributes to producing healthy grapes.

The "sciare"

Footprints of history imprinted on the wines

With its eruptions, Etna produces “sciare”, lava flows which, through long physico-chemical processes, give life to fertile and cultivable soils. Each sciara gives specific characteristics to the soil, making the wines from this micro-territory unique.

Mountain viticulture

A wise interaction among soils, microclimates and vines

On Etna we grow native varieties that are representative of the area: Carricante, Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Cappuccio. The vineyards are bordered by terraces and drystone walls made  of lavic stone (UNESCO World Heritage Status), alternating the espalier system of vine training with that of the Etna alberello. Thanks to an extreme balance among the vineyard and the winery, the Etna wines are characterized by a distinct mineral taste and elegance.

Dea Vulcano

Etna is a Vulcan Goddess, daughter of Uranus and Gaea, divine fruit of the fusion between sky and earth: the flaming hair in the clouds and the roots in the depths of the earth. Her complexity has always inspired poets and artists, such as the illustrator Stefano Vitale who in this sketch interprets the myth of the Goddess Vulcan to whom, in ancient times, libations of wine and fragrant herbs were offered. Today as then, we dedicate to the Goddess a fragrant wine, with a refined floral bouquet.
