A gorgeous red with mineral, dried berry and tea leaf aromas and flavors. Hints of wood. Full body, chewy tannins and fresh and lively finish. A blend of cabernet sauvignon and nero d’avola. Drink now.
The 2011 Tancredi is made of Cabernet Sauvignon, Nero d’Avola, Tannat and other red grapes (in the Sicilia IGT appellation). This is a huge wine with broad shoulders and a very opulent but forthcoming style. The bouquet offers jammy blackberry and cherry liqueur with spice, cola, licorice and Spanish cedar. Tancredi shows a spectacular level of intensity with power and muscle. This vintage delivers a powerful punch. The wine needs a few more months of bottle aging to loosen up.
The 2011 Angheli is a Sicilian blend of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon executed in a super plump and fruit-forward style. There’s a lot to like here and this pleasurable red would pair perfectly with succulent red meat or pork. Angheli is not necessarily “Sicilian” in character, in fact you could mistake it for a blended red from Maremma or southern Tuscany. What it lacks in territorial identity, it makes up for with sheer ease and drinkability. Drink: 2015-2020 (Monica Larner).
“Chiarandà is a sophisticated and slightly toasty blend of Ansonica and Chardonnay with aromas of ripe peach, pear, Golden Delicious apple, honey and almond butter. It has a soft, creamy consistency and lingering tones of spice and caramel. Pair it with shellfish or risotto with prawns.” Monica Larner
“This is an absolutely beautiful white wine (made from a blend of Ansonica and Chardonnay) that delivers rich and opulent tones of stone fruit, mon blossom. The wine excels in the mouth thanks to its richness and smooth creaminess. Imported by Folio Fine Wine Partners.” Monica Larner
“A beautiful oak-aged blend of Ansonica and Chardonnay, this is a great white wine from Sicily, with fragrant tones of almond blossom, apricot, hazelnut and vanilla. The mouthfeell is smooth, long and silky.” – Monica Larner
This Chardonnay displays a yellow straw color and aromas of fresh yellow fruit and a hint of mango. Aged for 5to 6 months partly in oak and partly in cement, it is fresh and full on the palate showing fruit that mirrors the nose with very light hazelnut, coconut, mango and minerals on the finish. Very flavorful with a persistent finish.
The 2009 Chiaranda (Chardonnay) is very pretty in this vintage. Exotic hints of passion fruit, truffles, jasmine, light floral honey and almonds meld together in the glass. This is an especially seamless, opulent white, yet there is more than enough salinity to give the wine its sense of proportion.

The 2010 Contessa Entellina Chardonnay Chiaranda is a full and creamy expression that underlines not only the generosity of the grape but also of the Sicilian sunshine. Fermented in stainless steel and partially aged in oak for up to six month sur lie, the wine is elaborate and fresh with creamy tones of lemon mousse and almond paste that add heft and texture. Light spice and cinnamon frame the contours with lingering tones of crushed mineral that are one of the wine’s nicest and most memorable qualities. Drink 2014-2018.
Rich, with toasted hazelnut, pear tart, crystallized honey and beeswax flavors, this is finely balanced and light-footed, bolstered by well-honed acidity. The finish shows fine minerality and drive, offering lasting smoke and iodine notes. Drink now through 20124. E’ un vino elegantemente equilibrato, supportato da una ben affilata acidità.
